Only about 1% of the water on the planet is drinkable. The waste water produced by reverse osmosis systems cannot be classified as drinkable. There are better options for nearly any situation. Please try to find them.

Another word to avoid is "Wellness." While Wellness Enterprises produces very fine full featured water filters of all types and of course claim that they are the best water filters, they cost two to three times as much as any other product.

The reason for this is rocks, specifically, rare igneous rocks. If you want to be even more specific, they are rare Japanese igneous rocks. Wellness Enterprises claims rocks will alter the pH levels of any water that touches them, "transforming" the water into an antibacterial agent. Don't fall for it.

One of the types of stone (Bakuhan-seki) has been found to increase crop yield because it helps soil retain nutrients, not because it contains nutrients. Meaning the rocks really do nothing for water.

The other type of stone is used in traditionalist Japanese holistic medicine, with no scientific studies to back up its claims of anti-bacterial... powers. We could find nothing to support the claims. On the other hand the best water filters have been studied for years and their effectiveness is well known.

A good phrase word to look for, in any circumstance, is "activated carbon." Whether you have city, county or well water, activated carbon filters will go a long way to improve the taste and smell of your water. The best water filters combine activated carbon with micron filtration and ion exchange to provide the safest cleanest water possible.

They remove chlorine, chemicals and microscopic cysts resistant to chlorine disinfection. They do not waste water. They do not make ridiculous claims and they are not outrageously expensive. You can afford the best water filters and you should invest in them, for the best of health.
